Dear Potential Adopters:

Due to the large volume of inquiries that we receive about our animals, please read the following carefully before emailing us about adopting an animal.

If you would like more information regarding the animals on our website, please call us at 208-354-3499 during our business hours. Tuesday-Friday 12-4 and Saturdays 10-4. We are closed on Sundays and Mondays but will accept phone calls and emails.  We welcome you to come to the shelter and met the animal in person during our open business hours.  If you are out of state and would like to visit, please contact us.

Adoption Process

Please carefully review our Adoption Policies and Guidelines. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have regarding the adoption process.

Requirements for Adoption:
  • Completed adoption application. We use our profile and interview process to ensure that each animal adopted will be matched with the most compatible new home.  Click here to fill out the adoption application.
  • Verification that you are 21 years of age or older.
  • Verification that your current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered. If you don’t have animals currently but have owned them in the past year, we will ask for a veterinary reference.
  • Proof of home ownership or permission to have pets. To ensure that the prospective new pet will find permanent placement, we verify that you are able to have pets. If you own your home, this can be accomplished by providing a property tax bill or mortgage statement; OR if you rent, through Landlord permission (i.e. lease or direct contact).
  • All members of your household must  agree to the adoption and be willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, care and medical treatment for your pet.
  • All primary members of the household (including children) must meet the animal prior to adoption

Holds Policy:We rarely place holds on animals. However, if you meet all of our adoption requirements and have completed all of the required paperwork but we are unable to perform your adoption due to time constraints of our business hours, we will hold the animal until the next business day of the shelter.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding, and strongly encourage you to ask any questions you might have regarding our policies.
